OUR MISSION
Most music styles can be heard on French radio and TV. Mainstream and pop music are obviously what you hear most often, before rap and r’n’b. Then you’ll find jazz and classical music, whose visibility in the media is limited but real. Rock is too often neglected, while metal is simply absent from all broadcasting media. In France, Metal is considered by the media and decision-makers of the music industry as a minor genre.
The lack of recognition metal gets from the media is completely absurd for a music style whose most influential bands manage to fill the greatest French venues at the sole mention of their names. It was the case for Metallica and Iron Maiden at the Parc des Princes, who attracted an audience of 40 000, and particularly for AC/DC at the Stade de France, with an audience of 70 000.
The goal of RADIO METAL is therefore to promote metal by giving it some space in the media. We don’t want to hear Metal everywhere and all the time, because too much publicity can be prejudicial to musical diversity. All we want is to have the possibility to listen to our music without necessarily imposing it on the “masses”. That’s why this webradio was created.
