[imgr_h=200]#images#/posts/2010/06/itwanathema.jpg[/imgr_h]Anathema can only inspire respect. First because the emotions they exude are always real. And second, because after the release of the amazing A Natural Disaster seven years ago and the buyout of their former record company by Sony BMG, the English band was left label-less from one day to the next. Disgusted by the music industry, they decided to take matters into their own hands. In seven years, Anathema managed to tour without any albums to promote, then released Hindsight, a beautiful compilation of acoustic arrangements of some of their old songs. At long last, the band now releases a new album – or should we say a masterpiece? Seven years might have seem long (even if the band did manage to keep us spellbound all along), but they seem fully justified now.
After Vincent Cavanagh, with whom we got to talk in November 2008, it’s now his brother Daniel’s turn to answer our nosy questions. The least we can say is that the man opened the doors to his universe and to this hypersensitive musical entity that is Anathema with utmost honesty.
