Exclusive live show: Front Line Assembly offered vibes that you can share again and again

Last sunday, Radio Metal was privileged to broadcast in its entirety the show given by Front Line Assembly at Lyons’ Marché Gare on Wednesday, September 14th. After Porn played as opening act, Front Line Assembly deliver a set of almost 90 minutes, where the powerful guitars were in perfect osmosis with the always perfectly mastered industrial and sometimes tribal rhythmic. It’s as if Front Line Assembly’s compositions, like many other electro-indus artists, take on even more depth live, whether in giant dancefloor pits or in more intimate venues.

In any case, it’s obvious that the two French shows of the Canadian band didn’t attract a massive audience. In part because of this completely undeserved assessment for such a talented artist and pioneer, we are particularly happy to have been able to share this moment with you on our air. As a result, we’ve decided to repeat the experience right now and to put the entire show up for listening on the website.

Front Line Assembly live is a vibe that one wants to share again and again, and we hope you’ll fall for their lively, catchy songs. Hier soir, l’antenne de Radio Metal a eu le privilège d’accueillir la diffusion intégrale du concert de Front Line Assembly qui a eu lieu le mercredi 14 septembre au Marché Gare de Lyon. Après une première partie assurée par la formation Porn, Front Line Assembly aura donc délivré un set de près de 90 minutes où la puissance des guitares était en parfaite osmose avec des rythmiques industrielles et souvent tribales toujours réussies. A croire que les compositions de Front Line Assembly, à l’image de beaucoup d’artistes electro-indus, prennent encore plus de profondeur en live. Que ce soit dans les gigantesques pit dancefloor ou dans des salles obscures plus intimes.

Front Line Assembly live at Lyon’s Marché Gare: aired in its entirety sunday

You should be aware that Radio Metal is planning to air more and more concerts. Hell, we’re a radio station after all, so we might as well take pleasure in it! With that thought in mind, why not share with you Front Line Assembly’s recent show in Lyon at the Marché Gare on Wednesday September 14th? We aren’t going to keep such a storm of beats in our archives, are we?!

Organised by local promoter “My Reference Events”, the four-piece’s show had the same remarkable intensity as the one they had given the previous day in Strasbourg. By the way, the club-like vibe has its part in the warm result of this one hour and a half recording that you can listen to on air on Sunday September 25th at 8 PM (GMT + 1).

Yes: a electro-industrial metal show given in front of a 150 people audience doesn’t feel cold, and this show in Lyon clearly proves that fact! Let’s also add the symbolic nature of that particular concert, since it was Front Line Assembly’s last show of the European tour, since the band was taking their plane the next morning.

Formed in 1986, Front Line Assembly is a cult band in the electro-industrial scene. Last year, these Canadians released their thirteenth studio album, Improvised Electronic Device, featuring Ministry’s Al Jourgensen on the song “Stupidity”: additional proof that metal’s great minds think alike! Front Line Assembly and Al Jourgensen always had a close relationship and worked with the same people such as Michael Balch or with the legendary label Wax Trax! Records.

Vous le savez depuis ce matin, Radio Metal a la volonté de retransmettre de plus en plus de concerts sur son antenne. Que diable, nous sommes une radio avant tout alors autant en profiter et se faire plaisir ! Dans cette optique, pourquoi ne pas vous faire partager le récent concert de Front Line Assembly donné le mercredi 14 septembre au Marché Gare de Lyon ? Nous n’allions quand même pas garder ce déferlement de beats pour nos archives, n’est-ce pas ?!

Organisé par le promoteur local My Reference Events, le show donné par le quatuor fut à l’image de celui de la veille à Strasbourg : d’une intensité remarquable. Par ailleurs, l’atmosphère très club qui s’en dégage participe au rendu chaleureux de cette captation audio d’1h30 que vous pourrez écouter sur notre antenne ce dimanche 25 septembre dès 20h.

Eh oui : un concert d’electro metal industriel qui se tient devant près de 150 personnes n’est pas forcément froid et ce show de Lyon le prouve très clairement ! De plus, notons la forte portée symbolique du concert en question puisqu’il aura conclu la tournée européenne de Front Line Assembly, le groupe prenant l’avion dès le lendemain.

Créé en 1986, Front Line Assembly est un groupe culte de la scène electro indus. Les Canadiens ont sorti l’année dernière Improvised Electronic Device, leur treizième album où l’on peut d’ailleurs noter la présence en tant qu’invité d’Al Jourgensen (Ministry) pour le titre ‘Stupidity’ : une preuve de plus que les grands esprits du metal indus finissent toujours par se rencontrer à nouveau ! Front Line Assembly et Al Jourgensen ayant en effet toujours entretenu des relations étroites en travaillant avec les mêmes personnes (Michael Balch) ou encore avec le légendaire label qu’est Wax Trax! Records.

Du Front Line Assembly pur sucre dans notre lait

C’est avec Strasbourg et le lendemain à Lyon que Front Line Assembly a choisi de clôturer sa tournée européenne de promotion d’Improvised Electronic Device, son dernier album, sorti en 2010. Entamée en mai dans leur Canada natal, elle les a conduit jusque dans nos contrées, à la plus grande joie des die-hard-fans. Et c’est justement avec beaucoup de plaisir qu’un petit contingent de fans français était présent dans la petite salle de la Laiterie.

Il y aura décidément toujours un décalage entre l’ancien et le nouveau continent. Pas seulement dans les modes de vie ; on peut aisément le détecter. Il y a aussi la culture. Alors que Front Line Assembly, sur son continent originel, déplace les foules et fait parfois jeu égal avec Nine Inch Nails ou Ministry, en Europe, c’est toujours moins peuplé… Cependant, soyez-en sûr, la centaine de personnes qui les attendait, fébrilement, était totalement dévouée à leur cause.
